City of La Grulla issues boil water notice due to leak

The City of La Grulla has issued a boil water notice for its residents due to a water leak that caused low water pressure. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ordered the public water system to notify customers to boil water for at least two minutes before use until testing confirms safety. Residents are also advised to purchase bottled water. Update (mysanantonio.com, 05.10.2026, 23:25): The advisory now includes Alto Bonito, La Victoria, and La Paloma communities in Starr County. The cause is repairs at the aging water treatment plant, and residents have been without water for days, leading to school disruptions. Although repairs were announced as completed by Saturday, taps remain dry. Update (KRGV, 07.10.2026, 07:30): Businesses have been impacted, with some observing the water as little yellow. All-clear (ValleyCentral, 10.10.2026, 07:45): The City of La Grulla has lifted its boil water notice after appropriate steps were taken and laboratory tests confirmed water quality was restored. Residents no longer need to boil water before drinking.
