CUC issues precautionary boil water notice for Rota after Choi-Wan rains cloud supply
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. (CUC) issued a precautionary boil water notice for the island of Rota, effective October 3, 2026, due to heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Choi-Wan raising turbidity levels in the water system. Customers must boil tap water for three minutes before use for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food, as turbidity can interfere with disinfection and indicate disease-causing organisms. The notice remains in place until further notice.
