North Carolina has reached a $590 million settlement with Chemours and DuPont concerning widespread PFAS contamination in the state's water supplies. The agreement allocates $455 million to 11 local governments in Southeastern North Carolina, including Sampson, Bladen, and Cumberland counties, to fund clean drinking water initiatives and address existing pollution. This aims to remediate contamination stemming from Chemours' Fayetteville Works plant, which was identified around 2017.
