The Southern Madison Water District has issued a boil water advisory for all houses on Appalachian Court, Sandy Lane, and Slate Lick Road. Customers in these areas should boil all water used for drinking or food preparation for 3 to 5 minutes. The advisory is effective September 1, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice. Update (WRAL, 19.09.2026, 17:55): The advisory now also covers the town of Salemburg, prompted by a fluctuation in water pressure and a widespread outage.
