Boil water advisory remains in effect on St. Croix due to E. coli contamination

The entire island of St. Croix remains under an active boil water advisory after a routine water sample collected from the distribution system at Frederiksted dock tested positive for Total Coliform and E. coli. A follow-up sample collected on August 26 also remained positive, leading to the advisory which is still in effect until further notice according to EPA regulations. Update (Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (WAPA), 17.09.2026, 07:55): Low pressure is now affecting higher elevation areas in the western part of the island, including Mars Hill, Two Williams, and sections of La Grange. The Water and Power Authority is urging water conservation efforts. All-clear (Government of the United States Virgin Islands, 22.09.2026, 21:40): The Boil Water Advisory issued August 28 has been lifted. Daily follow-up testing confirmed no E. coli and met applicable drinking water requirements. All-clear (Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA), 24.09.2026, 07:35): E. coli was specifically detected at Sample Point 327.
