Boil water advisory for Whycocomagh due to high turbidity

Current status: Lifted (as of 15/09/2026, 15:16). Older update notes in the history text may be outdated.

Due to cracks in a well casing, sediment is entering the Whycocomagh water system, leading to turbidity levels exceeding limits. The municipality has issued a boil water advisory and is providing drinking water and vouchers to affected households. The measure is expected to remain in place until June 19, 2026, while a UV disinfection system is being installed. All-clear (Municipality of the County of Inverness, 15.06.2026, 02:11): The boil water advisory for Whycocomagh was lifted on June 12, 2026. Normal water consumption may resume immediately. Update (invernesscounty.ca, 28.06.2026, 21:22): Leak detection work occurred on June 10 and overnight, potentially causing temporary pressure reductions. Water and voucher pick-up continued on June 10 and June 12 at the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department.
