Hundreds of homes hit by latest Boil Water notice
Cavan County Council has issued a Boil Water Notice for users of the Crossdoney Group Water Scheme, following advice from the Health Service Executive (HSE). The notice, issued on Saturday evening, August 29, 2026, advises residents to boil all water intended for drinking or food preparation until further notice as a precautionary measure during ongoing investigations.

Uisce Éireann has issued a Boil Water Notice for customers supplied by the Letterfrack Public Water Supply in County Galway. This precautionary measure affects around 138 customers due to mechanical issues at the local water treatment plant. The notice was issued due to mechanical issues at the island’s water treatment plant, affecting the entire island of Inishturk. Customers are advised to boil water for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, and making ice. Update (Connaught Telegraph, 11.09.2026, 13:35): The notice was issued on August 14th. New filter media will be installed next week, followed by a 10 to 14 day sampling program. Lifting the notice requires consultation with the HSE.
